Who needs a professional headshot?

If you have any kind of online presence you can benefit from having a professionally taken headshot.

Whether it's for your LinkedIn profile, the "About Us" page of a website or you need some shots for a promotional use, there's always a need for a solid headshot to help you connect with the right people.

Headshots need to make an impact but they are ultimately there to show someone what you look like.

There's more to it than just snapping your photo and that's what I'm here to help you with.

"I feel awkward having my photo taken"

Let’s face it, most of us cringe at the idea of having a headshot or a portrait photo taken. Almost all of the headshot photography sessions I do are with people who don’t exactly love the camera. But, the power of a professional headshot cannot be underestimated and so it's well worthwhile making the effort.

With so much of what we do being online these days this is how we make our first impression. Using a smartphone snap is just not going to cut it anymore.

I have plenty of experience in putting clients at ease. We'll work together to make sure we get the best shots for you.

headshot or a portrait? What's the difference?

A headshot is, as it sounds, a photograph of usually just your head and shoulders. In most cases you'll be looking into the camera and it's the perfect solution when you need an image to show people what you look like.

A portrait is where we can get a bit more creative and show a bit more character. These can be full or half body shots. You can be sat or laying down, walking, jumping, pulling a face, looking away from the camera whatever you want. The idea is to show a bit more of you and your personality to help tell your story a bit more.

which is best for me?

If you need an image for a profile picture then probably a headshot is what you need. It's straightforward and does the job.

But when you're telling a bit more of your story a portrait is going to work much better. It's less formal and will just support your content a bit better than a standard headshot.

Don't overthink this!

It's not complicated and is something I can help you with. On my personal branding photoshoots we'll shoot both, headshots and portraits, so you have options.

"Steve and I did a series of headshots in our photoshoot together and the results were outstanding, easily the best pictures I've had for the portfolio I use for speaking on conference circuits and for internal company profile work.

Would definitely work with Steve again!"
