headshot or a portrait? What's the difference?
A headshot is, as it sounds, a photograph of usually just your head and shoulders. In most cases you'll be looking into the camera and it's the perfect solution when you need an image to show people what you look like.
A portrait is where we can get a bit more creative and show a bit more character. These can be full or half body shots. You can be sat or laying down, walking, jumping, pulling a face, looking away from the camera whatever you want. The idea is to show a bit more of you and your personality to help tell your story a bit more.
which is best for me?
If you need an image for a profile picture then probably a headshot is what you need. It's straightforward and does the job.
But when you're telling a bit more of your story a portrait is going to work much better. It's less formal and will just support your content a bit better than a standard headshot.
